Dragon Revolution
Chapter I, Exams

It is about two years after Spyro and Cynder defeated Malifor and saved the world. The two dragons now live in the temple, and peace has returned to the world, or has it? Our story begins in the small town of Athens, on the Warrior river north of Warfang, in a house that contains a family of dragons...

"ANDREW!" Andrew's mom screamed, "Time to get up."

"I'm up," Andrew said as he slid out of bed. He went to the bathroom and stared into the mirror. He was an Electric dragon, so naturally he had yellow scales on most of his body and blue scales on his belly. Medium size for his age, he was stronger than he looked. His horns were about three inches long and curved slightly backward. His wings had a wingspan of about twelve feet long. He was five feet high and eleven feet long from head to tail. He finished getting ready for school and was about to leave when his mom stopped him at the door.

"Good luck on your exams today." the green dragoness said.

"I will, it's the the physical examination that has me worried." Andrew said.

His mom laughed and said "You will do fine, just remember to use your heart and mind."

"Okay, I will mom, good luck at work." Andrew said as he continued on through the door.

"My son," Andrew's mom said after he left, looking at a piece of parchment, "you have such a great destiny head of you."

As Andrew walked to the school house, he stopped by the Wallaces so he could pick up his brother, Daniel. He had spent the night at a friends house. He walked up to the door and knocked.

"Just a minute," a voice from inside said. Then the door opened revealing a tall red dragoness, "high Andrew."

"High Mrs. Wallace," he said

"I'll get them, Daniel, Carson, come here. Andrew's here to take you to school." She said.

The two young dragons made there way to the door. Daniel, a small green dragon, came first followed shortly by Carson, a small red dragon.

"Goodbye mom!" Carson said

"Goodbye Mrs. Wallace." Andrew and his brother, Daniel said, starting our walk to school.

"Goodbye," Mrs Wallace said, "Oh, and Andrew, good luck on your exams."

"Thanks." Andrew shouted back. The two dragons kept talking about what an awesome night they had and other twelve year old stuff. Andrew said goodbye to them once I reached the schoolhouse. On the way to first period, he ran into my friends, Zack, a red dragon, Francklin, a green dragon, and Sara, a light blue dragoness.

"Hi." he said "So how did it go with Aerial?" he asked Zack. Aerial was a red dragoness that Zack gad finally built up the nerves to ask on a date.

"Good," said Zack, "I'm just worried about the exams."

"I know," said in a mocking tone Sara, "You probably stayed up half the night studying."

"This is to much pressure," complained Frank (Franklin), not caching Sara's sarcasm,  "I think these test indragon!"

RRRRING

"That was the bell, gotta go guys, see you later." Andrew said as he hurried to class. He got to class and took my seat, then the bell rang again, signaling the beginning of class. Mr. Aaron (a large, dark green dragon) took his place in front of the class.

"Now class," he started, "As you know, we are doing exams today. We will be doing the writing exam this morning before lunch, and the physical exam after lunch. There will be no talking during the test, understood?"

"Yes sir." the class said in unison, and they started the test. Andrew grew more nervous with every question he answered, fearing that it was the wrong one. Even though he knew most of the questions, some of them made him rethink his answer. He checked all his answers before time was called, but he was even more nervous at lunch.

"Andrew, don't be so nervous." Sara said reassuringly.

"Yah, you are one of the smartest people in the class." Frank said.

"Thanks, but I'm lacking in the physical arena." Andrew said dismally.

"Andrew," Zack said, "you may not be stronger than me, but you're breath ability is really great. You'll do fine."

"Thanks," Andrew said as I turned to my food, "I really appreciate the encouragement."

"No problem," Frank said, "that's what friends do."

Later, the physical exams started. Each dragon was called back to preform for a panel of judges. There where four rooms, one for each element. Andrew would preform for the electricity judges.

"Andrew Vardan." a voice from inside the door called. He gulped and proceeded into a well lit room with several practice dummies and targets.  The judges sat behind some tainted glass, so  the student couldn't see them."You have five minutes, began."

Andrew use his electric breath attack to destroy several dummies at once, and continued to do a variety of attacks, but he new he needed to do something really impressive.

'I could try electric fury.' Andrew thought to himself. He had only done electric fury once before, and that had ended badly. But he needed something to put him over the top, and electric fury would do it. So he closed his eyes and concentrated and felt the electricity move through him. He thought about the result and who to get it. Then, he let it lose. He opened his to see the room decimated.

"Thank you for your performance, the results will be posted within the hour." one of the judges said, and Andrew left the room. Once he was gone, the two judges looked at the other dragon sitting beside them. "What do you think?" they doth asked the old, yellow dragon.

He turned to them and said "I have made my decision."

One hour later, the results where posted in front of the school. Andrew plowed his way to the front of the crowd to see what he made and to see who his mentor would be. The better you did, the better mentor you got. He looked for his name from top to bottom, but he couldn't find his name anywhere. He was about to go and ask the teacher about this when a red dragon in armor came up to him.

"Andrew Vardan?" the dragon asked.

"Yes." he said nervously.

"Please come with me." the dragon then said, and turned and walked away with Andrew following him.

Off in distant Warfang...

"So what is this new movement called?" asked a golden dragon, who was about sixteen, on the throne in the center of the room.

"The Republic Movement, but I doubt it is anything to concern you with, your magisty." said a red dragon dressed in armor.

"Okay," said the golden dragon, "but keep an eye on them."

"As you wish." said the red dragon with a bow and he exited the room.

The golden dragon sighed and thought of his friends, Spyro and Cynder.
This is my first story in my new Spyro series, The Dragon Revolution. In this chapter, we meet the main character, Andrew Vardan, We also find out about a new movement sweeping the nation called the Republic, and Andrew finds himself in a unique situation because his name isn't on the list. More to come!

Setting and LOS characters belong to Sierra

Here are my first thoughts...
I honestly thought this took place in the human world for the first half. Why?
1) You gave the characters human names.
2) You described Athens almost like the human world (ironic if you think about it...).
If you hadn't specified that the characters were dragons. I thought this would be humans we're focusing on.
You diffused the tension way too fast with the test that Andrew had to take. You take all this time to say he's going to have a hard time but he breezes through it relatively easy.
Also the parenthesis are not needed. You could just as simply say something like...
"Name, description, continuation..."
But despite that, I'm interested to see what this "Republic Movement" is.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the things I did say if you ever write a Spyro story again.
